Law Offices of Brad Kurlancheek - Northeastern Pennsylvania Bankruptcy Law

The way to get started on your case is to come to the office where I can review with you the ins and outs of bankruptcy, whether you are qualified to file for bankruptcy, and what your various options are besides bankruptcy.

OFFICE APPOINTMENTS

Free consultations are held Monday through Friday, generally in mid-afternoon and evenings, by appointment.

To set up an appointment either call (825-5252) or (800-324-9748) or email me at bkurlancheek@gmail.com.  Email is quite effective as I can often be tough to reach by phone.  If you email please indicate what day(s) or time(s) you have available for an appointment, and I will email you back confirming one of your available times, or suggesting an alternative time, should none of the available times you selected be available.  Appts are generally set for  weekdays at 2:30, 4:00, and 5:30 p.m.

Please click Directions for how to get to the office from your location.  Further below on this page are suggestions for what paperwork to bring with you to your appointment.

We do NOT serve the following counties:  Northumberland, Northampton, Montour, Schuylkill, Lehigh, Union, Snyder, Lycoming, Berks, and the western part of Bradford (west of Burlington).

We do serve: Luzerne, Lackawanna, Columbia, Monroe, Pike, Susquehanna, Sullivan, Wayne, eastern Bradford, Carbon and Wyoming counties.

YOU CAN GET STARTED THE SAME DAY YOU COME IN
If you're qualified to file bankruptcy, and if you decide it to be the best course of action after I've reviewed all your options w/you, you may start your case the same day that you come in for the free consultation.

WHAT TO BRING WITH YOU

It is recommended you bring the following paperwork, if you have the item in your possession (if not, it is okay, we can still proceed with the consultation):

       1)  Federal Form 1040s for the last 3 years

       2)  Recent pay stubs for the past 60 days (for you and your spouse, even if your spouse is not filing with you.)

       3)  A recent statement for each creditor and collection company, and a recent statement for any mortgage/home loan creditors, and auto loan creditors, even if you are keeping these items and are current on those loans.

       4) If any creditor has sued you, the court documents for that lawsuit.

       5) Driver's License (or other photo ID with your current address on it), and, Social Security Card (or medical or other card if it has your SSN on it).

You would also want to bring at least $200, if you want to get started on your case the same day you come in, and not have to come back to the office again for a more detailed interview.  For more information, please see the Fees and Costs page.  Please note that your case won't be filed with the bankruptcy court, and no creditors will be notified that you are under bankruptcy protection, until attorney fees and the court fee are paid in full.

DURING OUR INTERVIEW YOU WON'T HAVE TO FILL OUT DETAILED FORMS. I GET THE INFORMATION BY MEETING WITH YOU & REVIEWING YOUR PAY STUBS, TAX RETURNS, AND OTHER AVAILABLE RECORDS.

All information is held strictly confidential, and I personally do all the work on your case.

I GUARANTEE YOU THE LOWEST FEES (compared to other regularly practicing bankruptcy attorneys in Northeastern Pennsylvania.) I UNDERSTAND PEOPLE CONSIDERING FILING BANKRUPTCY DO NOT HAVE EXTENSIVE FINANCIAL RESOURCES.

BANKRUPTCY IS OFTEN NOT THE BEST CHOICE. IF I FEEL THAT'S THE CASE WHEN I SPEAK WITH YOU, I WON'T HESITATE TO TELL YOU THAT.

Under the new law there is a requirement that bankruptcy applicants obtain a Certificate of pre-filing counseling provided through an approved Credit Counseling Service, which administers a brief financial interview, which may be done on the phone or online. The Credit Counseling Service will provide you a Certificate of Credit Counseling. The law requires you provide me such certificate prior to the date we file your case (not prior to the time we first meet.) Currently we are recommending CCCS of ATLANTA as the quickest way to obtain the certificate - within 24 hours, through online counseling.  The reason is because they will email me directly your Certificate once you have finished the online procedure, which takes 30 to 60 minutes.

You may need my "FIRM CODE." It is: 2025.  There is no requirement that you see me prior to the time you obtain the Certificate, nor is there any requirement that you have the Certificate prior to the time you see me. I receive no financial compensation or any other pecuniary benefit for recommending CCCS Atlanta.
